My interdisciplinary dissertation work at the UW Institute for Public Health Genetics explored the link between depression and Alzheimer’s Disease, and particularly whether antidepressant use impacts the risk of Alzheimer’s Disease and cognitive decline in a large longitudinal study of adults over 65 (via the Adult Changes in Thought (ACT) cohort in cooperation with Group Health Research Institute).

As a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Systems Biology, my goal is to combine my prior training in epidemiology and biostatistics with a systems biology approach to investigate risk factors for neurodegenerative diseases and cognitive health in aging populations, and to assist in the development of novel systems-based health interventions to ameliorate cognitive decline associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
