Amal Katrib, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Pregnancy Research

Amal Katrib is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Hood-Price lab for Systems Biomedicine at the Institute for Systems Biology. Her academic research focuses on multiomic Big Data processing, mining, visualization, and communication. She leverages a multilayered and clinically-informed integrative framework to decode complex, multifactorial disorders and is currently applying this approach to investigate life-threatening pregnancy complications.

Amal holds a PhD in biomedical physics (medical imaging) from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her doctoral work was directed towards examining the transcriptomic, phenomic, and radiomic landscapes of preterm labor, glioblastoma, and neurologic dysfunction. This work was supported by the NIH Big Data to Knowledge initiative and the Eugene Cota-Robles diversity fellowship. She also holds an MSc in electrical engineering (signal processing, systems, and control) and a BSc in biomedical engineering (biophysics minor) from the George Washington University.
